On this website you’ll find course descriptions, sample assignments, and comments on student work from more than a dozen classes, enrichment programs and teacher development seminars I’ve designed and taught.

I am, first and foremost, a teacher of writing. Most of my experience has been working with high school students and undergraduates.

That said, I’ve taught at nearly every level from fourth grade to graduate school in subjects that range from basic reporting and media studies to American history, English literature and Spanish language. Besides a variety of non-traditional settings, I’ve taught in East Harlem elementary school classrooms, elite prep schools, Ivy League universities and public colleges from the Bronx to Staten Island. I’ve also taught in Europe and Central America.
