Translation

I translate from Spanish and Catalan.  My translations read as though they were written by a professional in English. If you can detect traces of the original, then I haven’t met that standard.

Beyond that, I translate for readers whose interest you hope to capture and hold onto, relying on nothing more—or less—than lively storytelling, language, ideas and exposition. For readers, in other words, who may well be paying for the privilege of reading your work, rather than getting paid to skim it for key information.

Where I do not already have expertise in the subject matter, this involves reading broadly in the target language so as to internalize the relevant vocabulary, conventions and usage. Along the way, I incorporate the elements of copyediting  and undertake a painstaking, iterative process that assures that the text has been brought fully into the language.
